SAN
MARCO MUSEUM
Located in the convent of San Marco, the Museo di San
Marco contains almost a hundred frescoes and other
paintings by Fra Angelico and his school. The convent
was rebuilt between 1437 and 1452 by Michelozzo
for Cosimo il Vecchio. Particularly worthy of note are
the Final Judgement, the Crucifixion and
the Annunciation (one of Fra Angelico's most famous
works).
Also worth visiting are the Library designed by
Michelozzo for Cosimo il Vecchio, Europe's first public
library.
The museum also presents temporary exhibitions.
