This splendid example of a Renaissance palace was built by Michelozzo for Cosimo the Elder between 1444 and 1464. Two centuries later it was purchased by the Riccardi family and enlarged by them.
From the Courtyard we arrive at the Chapel, also by Michelozzo, the walls of which are decorated with frescoes by Benozzo Gozzoli. In another section of the Palazzo is the seventeenth century Gallery, its vault covered by a fresco of the Apotheosis of the Medici by Luca Giordano.
