ZOOLOGICAL
MUSEUM "LA SPECOLA"
The
museum is situated within the Palazzo Torrigiani. It is
known as "La Specola" from the Astronomical Observatory
on the first floor, founded by the last Grand Duke of
Tuscany in 1841. The Observatory is decorated with paintings
and frescoes representing famous Florentine scientists.
The museum's most important collection is located on the
second floor: it consists of anatomical wax models made
between 1775 and 1814.
