| Course Description: Credit hours: 3--Contact hours: 90 Course # 22-2224 SR Dept: Art and Design This course will focus on advanced methods, materials of Intaglio, Relief, and Monotype printing. In addition to the opportunity to review and expand upon basic techniques, we will visit advanced techniques in non-toxic photomechanical processes. Students will be taught how to make digital transparencies, photo transparencies and/or cliché verre transparencies to use in conjunction with photosensitive plates. Subsequently, students will expose, develop, and print a wide array of imagery from these plates. We will consider advanced conceptual considerations regarding the role of the printed image in the 21st century and the unique place the original print plays in a post-modern world. Students who have had previous printmaking experience will register for Printmaking II and will be assigned more advanced projects within the framework described above, and will be expected to develop a cohesive body of work using a variety of technical means. The syllabus may be amended as the course proceeds. You will be given ample notification of any change. |
